Diamond C Racing started it's motor-sports team in 1997 racing stock cars on a local level. At the end of the 2001 season, the team liquidated its race equipment in order to fund the purchase of kart racing equipment for the teams new driver, Colby Clements. Colby started his racing career at the end of the 2001 season, at the age of 10. For a period of 5 years, Colby raced karts in Florida, recording numerous feature wins, and 4 track championships.
